University of the Arts London (UAL) review
The University of the Arts London is considered the "Oxford and Cambridge" of the art world. It's not about seeking A* achievers but rather about assessing applicants' individual abilities, characteristics, and potential through their portfolios. According to UAL's guidelines, student portfolios must encompass six key elements: experimentation, cultural diversity, relevant work, a strong beginning and ending, clear imagery and editing work, and showing passion and creativity. This underscores UAL's interest in students who can break free from conventional thinking.
Recognising that many Hong Kong schools tend to offer limited exposure to the DSE Visual Art curriculum, UAL acknowledges that students might struggle to proficiently incorporate the aforementioned elements. Therefore, UAL offers an additional one-year foundation programme for Hong Kong students to build a solid foundation, preparing them for their university undergraduate studies.

The London College of Communication is renowned globally in photography and media studies. The former Director-General of the BBC is an alumnus of LCC, and many graduates find employment at the BBC.
