Ample Academic Support and Positive Peer Competition

The excellent academic results at Roedean are not solely due to the school's resources but also to the ample support provided to each student. As an example of academic support for senior students, every Year 12 student chooses an enrichment subject in their free time, which can be unrelated to A-Level subjects or other challenging subjects. Additionally, the school regularly invites guest speakers for lectures and provides interview training for students aiming to enter Oxford or Cambridge universities, broadening their knowledge base. The learning atmosphere at Roedean fosters a strong sense of competition among students, creating a positive and supportive environment.

Diverse Learning Activities

Roedean offers a wide range of courses, with particular strengths in art, music, and drama. The school employs seven dedicated teachers to explore topics such as painting, photography, printmaking, ceramics, and sculpture with students. There is a well-equipped photography studio on campus, and regular seminars are held with professional artists and practitioners. In music, Roedean hosts a small-scale concert every week and at least one large-scale concert per term. The school band also embarks on overseas tours to Italy, Belgium, Germany, and Spain. In drama, Roedean boasts a 320-seat theatre with the assistance of a professional theatre manager and technical staff. The theatre is equipped with dedicated dressing rooms, costume rooms, and prop rooms. With excellent facilities in place, the school stages three major theatrical productions each year, allowing students to participate in various roles such as scriptwriting, directing, acting, lighting design, and costume design.
